Background:

The District currently has an electric supply agreement from December 2022 through May 2024 for a fixed energy rate of $.02734/KWh. Market factors, including a shift in electric generation (reduction of coal usage to produce electricity), higher crude oil and natural gas prices, along with the continuing war in Ukraine has driven prices in the fixed energy market well beyond our existing pricing. |

We are asking the Board for approval to grant the Assistant Superintendent for Business Operations authority to execute up to a thirty-six month future electricity agreement not to exceed the fixed energy rate of $.045/KWh with a start date of June 2024. This authority has been granted in the past (July 2019 is the last request for the current contract period ending May 2024) and will allow the District to monitor rates over the coming months and execute a commitment when the market is at or below he not to exceed rate of $0.045/Kwh. |
