Background:
Regulations require Districts participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) to ensure sufficient funds are provided to the nonprofit school food service account for meals served to students not eligible for free or reduced-price meals. One way to meet this requirement is through prices charged for paid meals. The purpose of this requirement, Paid Lunch Equity (PLE), is to increase paid meal prices to be more equal with funds brought in from free and reduced-price meal reimbursements. |

Summary:
To comply with the PLE requirement for the NSLP, the District needs to increase the paid lunch price from $3.25 to $3.50 for the 2024-25 school year. By remaining on NSLP, it is expected that paid lunch prices will increase each year. |
