Summary:
CUSD 200, with the assistance of its Middle School Capital Project partners, have been piloting furniture in two classrooms at Monroe Middle School since the third week of February 2025. Staff and students have been tasked with not only testing all of the different pieces of furniture, but also changing the design in each of the pilot rooms and providing feedback through formal surveys. Using this data, we are in the process of finalizing furniture plans for the 30 classrooms that are being remodeled at Monroe Middle School this summer (2025). Once the plans are finalized, the staff and student furniture will be purchased through a national purchasing cooperative called OMNIA Partners. CUSD 200 is a member of OMNIA and the purchase will be facilitated through Frank Cooney, a partner of CUSD 200 that worked with the District on the LLC updates at Johnson and Whittier Elementary Schools. This authorization allows Administration, once the final furniture plan is complete, the ability to place a commitment with the furniture manufacturer (VS America) through OMNIA. The commitment puts a hold on the furniture with VS America, allowing us to move the process along and meet the goal of all 30 rooms being remodeled and ready for the start of the 2025-26 school year. It is anticipated that the final plans and subsequent order be completed no later than the middle of April 2025.

Funding:
The Monroe Middle School furniture purchase will be paid for using resources from the Series 2025 - General Obligations Bonds that were sold in March 2025.
