Background
|
Middle School novels were last approved by the Board in 2004 and 2006. Additionally, the Vision 2022 plan included the goal to provide experiences and instruction to develop students’ appreciation of cultures and diversity. One way to provide these educational experiences is to expand the collection of books read by students so that they see themselves reflected in the text and can learn about others.

Summary:

At the June 15 meeting, the administration presented the recommended novels to the Board. These novels have been on display for public review for 30 days. Feedback has been shared with the Board. All community members that provide feedback received communication from a member of the Educational Services Department.

Funding:
|
The total cost is $48,600.68. One quote is from Perma-Bound for $48,160.68 and another quote is from Royal Publishing for $440. The attached document outlines each title, the ISBN, and quantity to be purchased. Funding has been allocated in the FY23 budget.
