Summary:
|
Due to rising food costs and other current market conditions, School Food Authorities (SFAs) have the option to negotiate with their Food Service Management Company (FSMC) to adjust the current contracted rates under an emergency contract amendment. The Emergency Contract Amendment would allow the rate to reflect current market pricing. In conjunction, effective July 1, 2022, the USDA has increased the reimbursement rate that school districts receive for each meal served by approximately $.68 per free/reduced-price lunch and $.32 per free/reduced-priced breakfast. To allow for sustainability of the program to cover continued increased costs for labor, product and other expenses, we have negotiated an agreement with Organic Life, LLC, whereby the Board would pay a per-meal rate of $2.2512 for breakfasts ($.32 increase) and $4.3648 for lunches ($.68 increase), effective January 1, 2023, and expiring June 30, 2023. There is no financial impact since the District will receive the increased reimbursement rate for each meal served.
