Background
|
The administration prioritized three (3) flooring replacement projects to be completed this summer to replace old VCT flooring. These projects are included in the capital plan and were reviewed and recommended by the Board Facilities Committee prior to bidding. Bids were structured to include a base bid and an alternate, which would allow us to replace older VCT flooring, and to stay within our annual budget allotment for 2022 capital facility projects.

Summary:

The bid opening was held on November 30, 2021. Seven (7) contractors obtained bid packages, and three (3) contractors responded. The bid package was structured with two base bids for work at Washington Elementary and Hawthorne Elementary, and an alternate bids for additional work at Lowell. Attached is a letter from Legat Architects recommending TSI Commercial Floor Covering, Inc., as the lowest responsible bidder for base bid #1 - Hawthorne and Lowell, and Consolidated Flooring of Chicago, LLC., as the lowest responsible bidder for base bid #2 - Washington, based on the combination of the base bids and recommended alternate.

It is recommended that the Board of Education award the base bid and listed alternate for flooring at Hawthorne and Lowell Elementary to TSI Commercial Floor Covering, Inc, in the amount of $394,502 and to award the base bid for flooring at Washington Elementary to Consolidated Flooring of Chicago, LLC. in the amount of $404,845.
